Ingredients to the “ideal” figure: 2 large breasts with a pinch of curvy but, flat stomach, add thick things and 2 cups of big butts.

Do you get conscious about your body every time you see the models in a lingerie ad? It’s time for you to switch to a body positive unisex undergarment brand, Tailor & Circus. The gender-neutral brand with prints that are unisex and have designs that channel the universal nature of aesthetic, refrain from any kind of societal bias in terms of colours, without confining to a binary stereotype, have something for everyone.

The founders of Tailor & Circus, Abishek Elango, an assistant director in the film industry along with Gaurav Durasamy, a clean tech engineer and Vasanth with 20 years of underwear expertise from his factory in Tirupur came up with an idea of creating a body positive underwear brand that is not for just one particular kind of body type. The brand’s vision is to create a body positive community around underwear and vision to design real clothing for real shapes, ethically and sustainably.

The brand wanted to create an equal underwear experience for all genders- across a range cuts from boxer shorts to bikinis. They feel that underwear is an important garment for the skin and the most overlooked and undervalued as well.  “We created Tailor & Circus after seeing significant gaps in both men’s and women’s underwear when it came to a compromise between comfort and performance. We felt overt and hyper sexualization had led to a significant drop in the comfort levels enjoyed by women and gender bias and hyper masculinity had led to shortage of interesting options for men and a massive loss of softness as well. We arrived at beechwood modal after a lot of research,” says Abishek on an interview with The Hindu.

The brand uses azo-free and skin safe dyes. They also do an anti-microbial process that prevents the fungal and bacterial growth on the underwear. The Micro Modal material used is developed onsite and sustainably cultivated in Austrian forests. The material is extracted from natural beechwood pulp, is thrice as soft as cotton and significantly more breathable in tropical weather.

We need more brands like Tailor & Circus that takes female and male models irrespective of their body type. Tailor & Circus is an inspirational brand where you see models flaunt their bodies with confidence without hiding the cellulite, scars, stretch marks and curves.
