Reading Group Series: FICA

By Diya Ahuja, 16 April, 2020

The current situation has made the world stop. Everything’s still. No movement and no human contacts. In hard times like these, a lot of people are facing troubles with their businesses are still struggling to find a way out.

The Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (@fica_india),  a non-profit organization that aims to broaden the audience for contemporary Indian art, enhance opportunities for artists, and establish a continuous dialogue between the arts and the public through education and active participation in public art projects and funding.

FICA has been organizing the reading group sessions since 2018. The main aim of this reading group is an attempt to establish a regular reading activity in the Reading Room. It is further followed by discussions and the participants are expected to read beforehand.

In this situation, FICA came up with the idea of a series of virtual reading group sessions on Instagram Live. It is the best one can do in times like these.

“We will be curating a series of weekly discussions in response to the current moment, opening up relevant texts to the conversation and critical engagement.”

This virtual reading group session happens once a week and is a good way to engage people who like reading and engaging in discussions like this.
