Amelie is a French romantic comedy film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet starring Andrey Tautou, known for its flawless cuts, beautiful special effects and unique atmosphere, created with the use of a highly distinctive, yet easily recognizable color palette which is vibrant and has deep hues of red, green, and yellow.

A shy waitress, Amélie Poulain (Audrey Tautou) tries to make the lives of others around her better while fighting with the odds of her own life. She had a talent to help others while living in her own loneliness. In the process of many overdramatic trials and trouble of life, Amélie finally finds her true love in Nino Quincampoix (Mathieu Kassovitz) who was a collector of discarded photographs of strangers from passport photo booths.

One day, when Nino drops a photo album on the street and Amélie pieks it, she starts to feel the butterflies in her stomach and tries to find Nino all over Paris just so that she could return the album. The movie gets a happy ending and is a must watch for all those lovable couples out there.

Till date, it is the highest grossing French film in the United States and is a mentionable box office success. This wonderful romantic comedy won the Best Film Award at the European Film Awards along with winning four César Awards in 2002 including Best Film and Best Director, two BAFTA Awards, and being nominated for five Academy Awards. This movie deserves to be on your list.
