The Revenant is an American frontier survival and revenge masterpiece directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, and Duane Howar.

The Revenant is about an explorer and fur trapper Hugh Glass played by Leonardo Dicaprio, who, along with his group gets attacked by a Native American tribe called the ‘Ree’, while returning to camp.

After a bear brutally attacks Glass, he’s left for dead by his fellow trappers Jim Bridger played by Will Poulter and John Fitzgerald played by Tom Hardy.

Hugh eventually recovers from his injuries and with the desire for revenge and redemption goes on.

Although this movie has won 3 Oscars along with 12 nominations at the 88th Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

But to be honest, I had somewhat mixed feelings about this movie, on one hand, this movie is a technical marvel there’s no denying that. Everything from the cinematography, the natural lighting, the execution of scenes is just outstanding.

But on the other hand, the movie is about 140 minutes long with an incredibly thin plot that makes it difficult to watch.

The characters, theme, and story are so simple and shallow that there’s not much to think about or dig in. It feels more like a movie hyped by the process of making the film opposed to it being a really great film.

Well if you are looking for a movie with some of the best sequences and challenging cinematography that will make you question how did they do? every other second, Then this movie is a must-watch. But if you are looking for a movie to dig about then you might get a little disappointed.
