Imagine wearing something that you’re feeling? Isn’t that great? Well, you might have realized this now, but you’ve been doing this, subconsciously since forever. Isn’t fashion a form of art?

What is art anyway? Art is something that expresses an idea or an emotion. There is no such definition of art. It is subjective and depends on how you interpret it.

Fashion is just the same, but more practical of course. The same amount of artistic expression goes into clothes. I mean, think of the whole process of designing clothes. Every step, from finding the right threads to choosing a particular fabric is just like finding the right colors for your canvas. Both have concepts behind them. What’s better than an art form that is practical enough for you to wear it?

We’ve come a long way in terms of how wide can one explore the field of fashion. We’ve seen clothes inspired from fine arts (Dris Van Noten; Fall 2009 collection), clothes inspired from architecture (Guo Pei’s Autumn/Winter 2019 collection), clothes inspired by abstraction (Raf Simons; Fall 2014 Menswear) and what not.

Art is everywhere. It inspires you to express and fashion has been doing this since the very beginning. Fashion is more than just clothes. It’s an art. The only difference is that paintings are displayed in a museum and fashion, on a runway.
