Kenzo’s 2013 Fall Collection: Inspired by City Streets and Indian Temples

“All the projects we work on have our own personal interest connected to them, you see and sense that in our collections for Kenzo.”

There are colors, multiple layers, diverse materials and some evil-eye-warding motifs. This collection stands in testimony to the spirit of India. Kenzo creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon presented their Fall 2013 collection at the historic Paris department store La Samaritaine.

There was a variety of patterns, colors and fabrics in the ready-to-wear collection. The designers linked the layered outfits to Indian Temples and their layered architecture. The colors varied from shades of blue to black and several glossy shades of crocodile jacquard. However, the clothes owed more to city streets on which the designers lived.

The clothing styles were diverse with cross-draped shift dresses, skirt suits with round volumes, men’s overcoats, boxy tops tucked into skinny pants to name a few. They were accompanied with peep-toed block heel sandals in complementing colors including glossy shades of black and gold. Some models were also seen sporting sporty sunglasses with white wings.

The make-up in the looks was minimal with only soft under-eye make-up, nude lipstick and nails painted black. The hair was left open with a uniform left partition throughout all looks that gave an effortless look to the ensemble.

One design which “grabbed eyeballs” was the eye-motif which made appearances in several outfits in many ways- from a large singular motif on a sweatshirt to several smaller motifs.

The collection is wearable, out-of-the-box and everything that attracts the eye!
